Tomahawk Jerry (1954 - 1975)

There's been considerable discussion about whether Tomahawk Jerry, born Robert Lee Clayton, should be classified as a rock & roll singer, a New Jersey hipster cat, an interpreter of popular standards, or even a punkrocker.
Throughout his career he made a point of not becoming committed to any one style at the exclusion of others.
It appeared he could have gone on indefinitely as a sort of junior version of Martin Olivier.
He would periodically record pop/rock and punk singles whose principal appeal lay outside of the adult pop market.
In 1972 he founded the record label New World Order Rec.
Tomahawk Jerry took his life with an overdose of barbiturates in New York 1975, at the age of 21.
